Terms and Conditions

We recommend that you read these terms and conditions carefully before you place your order. Your order subsequent purchases of goods will be governed by these terms and conditions. These terms do not affect your statutory rights as a customer. No binding contract will exist between us until we have accepted your order.

2. Price

2.1 The prices payable for goods that you order are as set out in our website and include VAT, currently set at 20%

2.2 Price excludes delivery. Our delivery charges are set out in our website. If your address is in a remote location we will contact you with shipping options before your order is shipped if necessary. 2.3 Member countries of the EU, and any other eligible countries, states or territories are obliged to pay the UK VAT rate on their purchases.

2.4 Prices are set at GB Pound Sterling rates, prices in other currencies will therefore fluctuate relative to the exchange rate against the website price in GBP.

2.5 We try to ensure all prices are accurate on our website. However, we are unable to guarantee that we will not make a mistake and display a price of an item incorrectly inadvertently. If this is the case, the optician reviewing and processing your order will notify you of the error. You will then have the choice to either accept the correct price or to cancel your order and accept a full refund.

3.Customer Obligation

3.1 By submitting your order to SpecsExpress you confirm: You are not registered severely sight impaired/blind or sight impaired/partially sighted. You are aged 16 or above. You have an up-to-date prescription (it should state on the copy of the prescription) where the sight test has been performed by a qualified optometrist and you have given us an accurate reading of the prescription and any addition notes on the prescription.

3.2 We will not be responsible for a refund if the prescription entered isn’t accurate or isn’t filled in corrected as we rely on the prescription provided by you and the goods provided by SpecsExpress will correspond to that prescription received. If you are uncertain about your prescription, please contact you optician or contact us via email for help and we will get back to you within 7 working days.

3.3 We advise you to ask for your ‘PD’ during your sight test but if you are unable to obtain the measurement we have a link in our website to help you step by step to measure you own PD. Unless you state otherwise, we use an appropriate average pupillary distance ‘PD’ to complete your order. Unless you specify a particular ‘PD’ during your order process you will be agreeing to let us use an average PD for single vision lenses.

3.4 We will not fulfil orders for lenses where the sphere value added to the cylindrical value equals 8 dioptres and over online. You must not attempt to place an order of this type online.

3.5 Reglazes are done at your own risk. Unlikely however possible are breakages or frames. We are not responsible for any breakages/ damage done to your frame during this process.  

3.6 Prescription orders are customised for you. You cannot return the product for an exchange or refund. Images are for representation purposes only and the fitting room is forstyle only, not sizing.

4. Limitations Of Supply

4.1 We will try our best to fulfil all of our orders; however we cannot guarantee the availability of all the goods. In those cases we will contact you via phone/email to offer you a refund or give you an alternative option.

4.2 On the advice of our Opticians/dispensing opticians, it is up to us whether or not to accept the order. Prior to the order being accepted it is entirely up to our optician to:

  •  to request that you send us a copy of your written prescription;
  •  to contact directly, or request that you contact, the optician who provided your prescription to verify and/or discuss your prescription;
  • to request that you obtain your pupillary distance measurement from your optician; or
  • request that you obtain a new written prescription from your optician.
  • contact you to discuss your order or to provide advice accordingly;

5. Package and Delivery

5.1 All goods will be delivered within 28 working days upon placing your order, we will do our utmost to deliver your goods as soon as possible, usually 7 to 10 working days.

5.2 All goods will be delivered at the address stated on the order form, unless stated in writing in the order form.

5.3 Delivery for all goods is carried out throughout the U.K and worldwide, 5.4 If your goods have not been received after a sufficient number of days after receiving the dispatch notification e-mail, please contact customer services.

5.5 In exceptional circumstances where the delivery has been lost at our fault or at the fault of the courier, we will give you an option or re-delivery or a full refund

5.6 We give an estimate of the delivery time but is not guaranteed by any means.

6. Inspection of Goods

6.1 Upon arrival of the goods, you should inspect the goods to check for any damage. In the case of damaged good please do not attempt to use the goods and contact our team immediately. You should carefully inspect the delivered goods. If the goods are damaged or lost then do not use them and contact us to inform us of the problem.

6.2 From the time of delivery you will be liable for any loss or damage, unless such loss or damage is caused by our negligence.

8. Copyright and Trademarks

8.1 The Site’s design, names, text, images, graphics, logo are all owned by, or licensed to, SpecsExpress. They may not be reproduced for any commercial or public purpose without the consent of SpecsExpress.

8.2 These Terms and Conditions of Sales should be read in as well as SpecsExpress Returns policy prior to placing an order. Your statutory rights are not affected. For more information about your statutory rights, please visit the Department of Trade and Industry’s Consumer Gateway website

9. Events beyond our control

9.1 We shall have no liability to you for any failure to deliver goods you have ordered or any delay in doing so or for any damage or defect to goods delivered that is caused by any event or circumstance beyond our reasonable control including, without limitation, strikes, lock-outs and other industrial disputes, breakdown of systems or network access, flood, fire, explosion or accident.
